With Fall, Comes Revolt

Summer 2010 is coming to a swift end, Autumn is soon dawning upon us. Personally this is my favorite time of the year. Every Fall brings me a new sense of longing, for something better, more shoes, a cooler name like Francesca, petty stuff I suppose. But this Fall I kind of want everything to change, for everyone. I always tell you folk, BE BOLD! Well shit, let's do it! Let's get out and get something, let's cause a revolution! Revolt against anything & everything. Take power in your own life, starting with your school fashion choices. Make PEOPLE STARE! Make them second guess their first impression of you. Where a prom dress on homecoming & gym shorts to prom. Be silly with your wardrobe, but hey silly doesn't coincide with tacky folks (continue actually matching your clothing on a daily basis). Wear a FREE WEEZY shirt months after he is released and tell anyone to STFU if they don't like it. Be You. Who says we have to conform to - as Hayley would say it - "THE MAN"? If you have to wear uniforms to school die them pink and rip EVERY pair of your stockings. If you live in a Carajo Land area like mine, wear the rival school's gear at every football game, who cares? Dead broke like me?! You can still look good as hell, like me. Go to a local thrift store, everything is dirt cheap and you can find great pieces. I may have went on a little rant there, but it's only because I'm truly passionate about this folks. I cannot ever stress enough how important it is to stay true to yourself, it's the key to success, love, and happiness. And of course doing some wardrobe sprucing up is never a bad thing. Below are a few of my School Must Haves, along with my first day of school outfit. (Yes, I'm a nerd - I already have it picked out!)

When I came across these shoes, my joe literally dropped. My mouth is actually still open as I type this. These amazing shoes are made by no one other than Christian Dior. I mean, who else could get away with using a figurine of a goddess as the heel of a sandal? Unique isn't even the word to describe these shoes. They are absolutely stunning.

I came across this beautiful bracelet while flipping through the amazing pages of Nylon magazine. The designer is Eddie Borgo and his collection has a great superhero feel to it. These cuffs remind me of Wonder Woman with a fierce twist. I love the spikes and the colors. It's something different and I like it.

I Clicked & I Fell In Love

Fashion is the love of my life & nothing gets me more excited then coming across cute dresses that are just my style. So while googling a bunch of stuff, at the side of my screen Google was suggesting "something different". That something was Moschino. I clicked on it to find a button on their site saying "Click, Shop, Fall in love." So, I clicked it only to fall in love with their Summer collection filled with cute short dresses with beautiful bright patterns. I've had this song on repeat all day. I've been in love with it since I first heard it. The dolls absolutely love us some Drake. It's just something about the way his songs are put together. I think many people can relate to this song, young or old. It's beautiful and most of all, it's REAL. I have no idea why it didn't make the album but I do know it is a great song. The song is called July and it is featuring Jhene Aiko. You may remember her as the young girl who would tour with B2K back in the days. I have officially fallen in love with the photography of Darla Teagarden. Her work is absolutely breathtaking. She mixes the arts in ways that are unbelievable. I do not only love her work because of the use of pink or cupcake cups as dress fabric but because of the uniqueness that is in her photos. She easily captures the beauty of things we wouldn't normally find too pretty such as tatooed princesses or a dark and dreary Alice in Wonderland. Her work shows off beautiful dresses and girly girls but yet captures a dark and drearyness beyond it all. I am amazed by Darla Teagarden's work and I hope to see much more from her in the future.

You can love her or you can hate her but there is one thing we can ALL agree on which is, this girl has an "interesting" sense of style. As I looked through all of the celeb's looks for 2010 BET Awards, I came across this picture of Ms. Minaj. It left me sort of confused. Her dress was pretty but it definitely looked like Nicki was going to walk down the aisle instead of the Red Carpet. Maybe I would have liked her overall look better if she chose a wig that had more of a normal color to it. With the bright orange hair, it seemed that she was trying a bit to hard to be abnormal. On the bright side, I loved her necklace but it would've have looked a whole lot better if her dress was strapless. Since her gown had straps and the necklace was so large , it looked like there was too much going on up top. I can not honestly say this was a horrible look but it could have been executed a lot better. Let us know what you dolls think. Was Nicki Minaj's outfit a hit or miss?

These shoes would be mine. I first came across these beautiful heels while flipping through the July issue of Elle. Gorgeous model, Neomie Lenoir wore them throughout her "Oh My Darling" spread and I fell in love. So I quickly turned to the shopping guide in the back of the magazine and saw these beauty's were a part of Miu Miu's Spring/Summer '10 collection. As I went on to Miu Miu's website, I found out something that made me love these shoes even more. They come in PINK! These shoes were officially made for a doll.

Animal print is a hard thing to tackle, especially if you are a designer. It is hard to use without making your designs seem "cheap" or "overdone". One of my new favorite lines, Blumarine handles this task terrificly. Both of these outfits are completely covered in animal print and still manage to look high-priced and fashionable. This is a job well done.

It's The Day We've ALL Been Waiting For!

After a bunch of false dates and plenty of pushbacks, June 15th is finally here. Drake's highly anticipated album, Thank Me Later is finally out. We've all heard his mixtapes, singles, and leaked songs but with this album he is OFFICIALLY here. The dolls are HUGE fans of Drake. Actually huge doesn't even cut it. There are no words to explain how much we love him. He had our hearts since he was Jimmy. Many people thought that Drake wouldn't live up to everyone's expectations but I believe he surpassed all expectations. The album is great and with songs like Shut It Down, Light Up, and Up All Night picking a favorite song is almost impossible. Oh, how the dolls love you Drizzy.

Celebs Spotted at Puerto Rican Day Parade!

The Puerto Rican Day Parade took place yesterday in New York City. If you didn't know already, the dolls are proud Puerto Ricans. Unfortunately, the dolls could not make it to the Puerto Rican Day parade but a bunch of celebs were able to. (That is because they don't have dreaded minimum wage jobs.) Whether she is attempting to kill a Mockingbird, or singing incredibly well in her little duo "She & Him" she is stunning to us all. And yet she is not your typical Celebrity Doll, she doesn't fit stereotypes well. An indie type of girl, to the core. She is absolutely adorable, and has an even better personality. Walks around with the, "so the fack what" attitude, as in she doesn't seem to mind anyone around her. Her fashion sense is incredible, her ensembles could fit your local Starbucks or a movie premier at Sundance. I absolutely adore her! Once I become famous, she'll definitely become a part of my inner circle, her music, her movies, and her style has made her stand out against everyone around her, and that is a good thing.

All of the hottest celebs stepped out in style last night for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala. Everyone was looking their best but of course the one celebrity who stood out the most was our doll, Katy Perry. As if her incredible beauty wasn't enough to turn heads, she wore an illuminated dress. Yes, her dress lit up in various colors. Made by Cute Circuit, a wearable technology company, this dress was a hit and Ms. Perry looked stunning in it.

I have a thing, more like an obsession, for anything pouffy, zebra print, pink, or with a bow. So when I came across these gorgeous tutus, I began to do my happy dance. Well, until I noticed they were recommended for 2-6 year olds. I may have to contact the designer to get em in the dolls' sizes. I would happily rock these on any regular day. So on a random search on Zappos.com for pink heels, I came across this lovely pair of shoes.

They come in powder pink and hot pink cheetah print. And the big black bow is a nice touch. This is why i love Betsey Johnson. It's like she designs especially for us, dolls. These precious heels are $154.00, which is not too bad. So, when I decide to save the money from my amazing minimum wage job, I will be sporting these bad boys.

So randomly skipping around the net, writing random words in Google and pressing "I'm feeling Lucky" brought me to something that made me want to do a few backflips, a split, and kiss a hobo in a train station - yes darlings, it was that serious. Google brought me to a new obsession, FASHION CUPCAKES, hell yeah you heard correct. FASHION FRIGGIN' CUPCAKES! Now if you haven't realized by now, the dolls love many things and cupcakes and fashion happen to be in the top 10 - more like top 3 (God is number one!). So to see those two fused together in one delish but absolutely stunning creation made me shake my tush a little and attempt to whistle. No posts in a while as you can clearly see, we apologize. We know it seems like an occurring thing, but no more. Lots of opportunities and new business ventures are on our horizon, well pretty much knocking at our door. We are definitely answering! Investing in a new hot teen club opening in the beginning of Summer 2010; that our Diamond Dude Damon (KiddFresh) is running. Lots of new interviews with a variety of different people and artists. We are also writing a book, more like a dictionary! It'll be a classic, trust me. So many things dollies, aren't you excited?

This past weekend Hayley and I were privileged to attend our doll Saramarie's Sweet 17th Birthday. To say the least, we had a blast. Food was great and the music was fab, the DJ was on point. Family was everywhere, our doll followers were all at attention, it was too much fun. Running away from nerds, new friends and girls with huge noses, I must admit it was a good night.

Damon vs. uh, the world?

We all know his name, and if you don't your bound to learn it. Damon "KiddFresh" Williams is the epitome of the word success. He does not take no for an answer, if he wants it - trust, he is going after it. Maybe that is what intrigued the dollies to approach him for an interview or maybe it was his darling face, but either way we made it happen. Meeting at a diner in Allentown, PA the dolls gabbed about everything from screaming while crossing streets to doing our nails - while our diamond dude Damon just looked at us like we extremely bizarre, which I assure you we are. (: After the first ten minutes of uncomfortableness and getting to know each other, I put on my work face and we got down to business.

Angelica Hunte: Start of with the basics; name, age, school?
KiddFresh: Damon, called KiddFresh, I'm 16 and I go to Allen. But I want to change soon. (I interjected and joked "Becahi, for the girls, correct?") He laughed and said "Oh yeah, but lots of other schools too. I just don't like Allen.
AH: We see you promoting lots of parties, websites, cliques, etc. What is it that your primarily do?
KF: I get fresh, I produce. I started a record label, Fresh Records. I sing, dance, rap, and I DJ.
AH: Oh, sounding like a next Drake.
Hayley Cotto: Oh Drake, yum.
KF: No homo, but Drake is ugly (GASP!) ; I follow him with everything but the nigga is ugly.
HC: Well Chris Brown, you have the resemblance and the talent too.
KF: I get that a lot, but Chris Brown ain't cuter than me. (He then proceeded to show us his waves and yell "He ain't messin with the waves man, he ain't messin with the waves, plus his hairline is wack.")
AH: We aren't friends anymore, but what else do you do?
KF: My team & I just set up a clothing line like last week, called Fresh Label and yes I do promote clubs.
AH: Very cool, what interested you into getting into the entertainment business in the first place?
KF: I don't know to be honest, money. A lot of my family and associates were in the music business and I was following in their footsteps.
AH: Do your friends and family support you a lot?
KF: I do everything for myself, (Having to grow up quicker than usual, since the death of his mother) my dad tried to step it up because of the loss of my mom but I used to do everything with my mom. And I don't really have friends, most of my associates are bigger names.
AH: Elaborate on you doing everything for yourself.
KF: I got all of my connections on my own, I had to set up connections so I could get sponsored. I knew a lot of the DJs around, that spin in Maingate and stuff so we made a deal that if I brought people into the parties then in return I'l be able to preform at the parties.
AH: A win/win situation I presume.
KF: Hell yea, so I proceeded on with my first business venture. Which was getting a team together to promote these parties, it was Young Swagg & Team Swagg. And I went up to the other group and was basically like "You want money, lets do this", and that is how Team Swagga came about.
AH: So you guys promoted these parties, and in return you got your performance time?
KF: Yeah, if I was performing then I would bring them all on stage with me. Plus, we got money. I started up connects with Sandra Revive, big shot outs to her! And we took off, we were making moves.
AH: So everything was all good.
KF: It was at first but then they wanted a meeting, complaining that Sandra was making profit from their name, stating they wanted more money from her, she was dishing out $2 for every flyer we handed out and was brought back in to the club. She was expecting us to bring 300 people in there, so her paying $2 dollars for each one was reasonable.
AH: Trouble in paradise then.
KF: I guess, they called another meeting still complaining and I decided it was either Team Swagga or my career, I built a name for myself so I dropped them.

The waitress then came back to give me my fourth cup of coffee and refills for Damon & Hayley, she looks at the uneaten burger and rolls her eyes. We got off task as usual, him asking us about our career and what we do. Motivating us to the maximum. A group of people behind us start talking about the Phillies and he looks at me and says "Phillies are ass", best friends? Yes I suppose so. He brings out a card showing us his next gig, Industry Tuesdays, he explains to us that it is like a huge talent show, and we told him we'd be there with signs with his name on them. We talk about haters and beef and he fills us in on his most recent drama. About Facebook, and Jayhood parties, bottles, 3 with him and 13 of them, and mohawks, and acne, and old guys. He says "If you hate me, your making me money, haters just *hand motion, just talk a lot with nothing to back it up." Couldn't have said it better myself. He complained on how we are wasting food, while the burger still sits there. He grabs the burger and takes a huge bite, proceeds to make a hilarious face. It was so natural just to act goofy with him. We all meshed really well together, his dedication amazed us. In his words "Dedication isn't the word, gotta make up a new word because at this point it's way past that." Our diamond dude Damon is on his grind, did we mention he released an exclusive secret to us? He is opening a club! In the beginning of this summer. How many sixteen year olds can say that? Not too many, but then again not too many are Damon. We love him, uber much, and we are thinking that Damon & the Dolls are going to take over the world.

What has sequins, makes your rump look fabulous and aren't as pricy as they seem? Chanel has mastered them, and shortly after local franchises like Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe had them in stock. If you are guessing metallic leggings or glittery berets, sadly you are mistaken. Good effort, but we are talking about the one of a kind SEQUINS SHORTS. The ultimate outfit booster on the racks as of this early in the year. Throw a pair on over some stockings and a chic tunic and there you are, set, to hit the classrooms or the dancefloor. They are too adorable, who wouldn't want a pair? I know I am snagging some as soon as I possibly can.

“If you wannabe my lover, you gotta get with my friends”, those lyrics used to blast out of every little girl’s boom box at sleepovers all the way to the manly man gelling his hair for a night out. The Spice Girls had the world in the palm of their hand during the 90’s, trendsetters, amazing performers, talented songwriters, absolutely UNSTOPPABLE. I personally had their Barbie dolls and I would bring them along with me everywhere, any chance I received. Baby Spice (Emma Bunton), Scary Spice (Melanie Brown), Ginger (Geri Halliwell), Sporty Spice (Melanie Chisholm), and of course Posh Spice (Victoria Adams, now Beckham). Although they have went their separate ways and now lead lives of their own, there is one particular Spice that remains in the spotlight and that we all love to keep tabs on.

Yes, it is the incredible Posh Spice, Victoria Beckham. She is an absolute doll, wife to an absolute delish soccer phenomenon, David Beckham, mother of three, fashion designer, and also a solo artist. Who said we can’t do it all? Obviously Mrs. Beckham is doing a fabulous job at doing so. The best attribute that Victoria possesses is the fact that beneath the high-fashion glamour and killer heels she is a rather normal person, something that came to be a shock to me after reading her spread in the March 2010 issue of Glamour magazine. One of her quotes were “I’m living an extraordinary life. I never try to be too cool about it.” What isn’t there to love about her? Now during the 90’s, Victoria was christened the title of Posh Spice in her girl power, all girl pop star group “Spice Girls”. But flash forward several years, the once former “posh” female has grown up a lot and yet she remains in the public eye as an icon and a role model for so many in today’s society. Alongside some of the greatest powerhouse women we see today – for example, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, shoot Oprah for that matter ; she holds her ground as a top notch DIVA. Victoria Beckham was chosen to be our first Diamonds Decades piece because her accomplishments are truly epic, we love her. She is so adorable, no?

Saramarie, newest addition to DOLL MOB came up from New York surprising us both. Today we all hung out and caught up with each other’s lives. Arriving with her gray NorthFace jacket, Hollister jeans, cheetah print shirt, and DUCKIE boots – absolutely adorable, we set forth on our journey to Perkins. While we had lunch we asked our beloved Sara to join our mission to take over the world. Of course, she didn’t decline, now here we are – another lovely female to mesmerize you all with her amazing talents. She is very dear to our hearts and I am sure she will capture all of yours as well. Although we do realize she lives further away, the distance does not matter, we fit together & we always make time for each other in our busy lives. This is what us dolls do, we stick together no matter what and because of that fact, we are DOLL MOB, you may love it - you may hate it. Either way, I can guarantee you respect it. ♥

Hey dollface, state your name and age, location perhaps?

-SaraMarie Colandra , I’ll be seventeen in less than a month and I live in New York city, New York. Do you enjoy living there?

-I love it. I love people watching, does that make me creepy? (I answered not at all) She continued, I like looking for all new styles, I see a lot of people wearing stockings and these old fashion boots. *(NEW TREND ALERT?!).

What does your daily life consist of?

- My days are boring, (she laughs) I work at Last Licks, an ice cream parlor, rude customers, snobby people, the works. But I make that guap. ;]

What are your passions?

- DANCE! Now I am getting into photography, I like to see the beauty in everything.

What are the things you dislike the most, in general?

- Fake females. I don't like people, I feel like I have all the people I need.

If you could have a day out with any person, dead or alive who would it be? & Why?

- LADY FUCKING GAGA, she gives me the tingles.

Celeb DOLL of the Week.

Okay dolls, so I’m sure you all know why Beyonce is our CELEBRITY DOLL OF THE WEEK but let us just reassure you. First of all, she’s PERFECT. Yeah yeah we know that no one is perfect but this woman is pretty darn close. She can sing, dance, act, design clothes and pretty much rule the world. Is there anything she cant do?! We doubt it. She the ideal doll and we absolutely adore her. Last week Beyonce broke the record for the most Grammy wins in one night by a female artist when she took home six out of the ten Grammys she was nominated for. She also looked quite amazing all throughout Grammy night. I wasn’t sure if I liked her first dress. The pattern just seemed to remind me of the curtains hanging in my living room but it was Beyonce and as usual she rocked it well. Her performance dress amazed me. I would kill to have that dress in my closet. And her last dress she changed into made my jaw drop to the floor. It was absolutely gorgeous. Us dolls love sequins and this dress was full of it. Usually we wouldn’t be fans of puffy sleeves but this dress used them perfectly. We adored all of Beyonce’s looks and we absolutely love Beyonce, herself. She represents all that we stand for here at Diamonds and Dolls and that is why she is our very first celeb doll of the week (:

official team swagger interview, pt 1.

Team Swagga, a group of diverse boys joined together in the spring of 2009, we dolls were fortunate to meet with three of them. We met with Samuel Nazario 20, Austin Cummings 18, and Terrell Mitchell 18, this past week in Hayley’s home. It was an awkward beginning to say the least, our first official interview and not to mention they arrived an hour and a half late, we were all on edge. But soon Sam started stuffing his face with cold pizza; I believe that broke the ice. Not exactly organized, Hayley & I started throwing out questions. Samuel took the lead on answering most of the questions, Terrell adding information here and there, and Austin staying a bit on the shy side. We both agreed on the fact that these dudes were easy on the eyes, ladies keep your eyes peeled. (: In our interview we collected a lot of interesting information about their crew. As of this moment there are eleven members in Team Swagga and they all come from different backgrounds and they are located all around the Lehigh Valley. Also, each of them are interested in different things – for example, Terrell is looking forward to majoring in graphic design after high school. He also does the web designs for Team Swagga, along with other local businesses’ websites. Sam is going toward the business route, along with aspiring to be in the music industry as a producer. None of the three knew exactly who created Team Swagga, along with not being too sure of who named the crew. Terrell stated that there were two different crews Team Fresh and another who combined together, hence the birth of Team Swagga. When Hayley jokingly remarked that the team name was not original and that they should consider revising it, they laughed and said that in the near future that may be a possibility. Terrell joked and said that they should rename it “Sugarcoated Cupcake Babies”, Hayley and I ohh’ed and ahhh’ed and agreed that was the most adorable name ever. WE LOVED IT! We asked them if they had a sister crew, many of the “teams” nowadays have a crew of girls parallel of them, like a fraternity and a sorority bond. They told us that they did at first, but now they do not. Differences on how they should be looked upon in the public eye tore the affiliation apart. However, they all agreed that at this time Wavy Girls are basically their “sister” group. We asked them what the point of their group is, why were they banded together – what were their motives on becoming one large group? I joked around and said that they just went to Maingate (a local nightclub) and danced, although they did agree that they do, do that, there were alternative reasons. Their main focus right now is to throw parties, massive ones. Austin broke his silence by saying that they are trying to get a huge fan base, to add on to the small one that they have now. I recalled them having a Christmas Teen Bash in 2009, and they all laughed – Terrell saying that it was more of a get together. The turn-out was not what they expected, but they have not given up. They plan to be doing major things in the future. The rest of our time together consisted of making fun of each other, talking about cupcakes and brownies, yelling at Terrell for being a Red Sox fan, making future plans with each other. Over all the meeting was a successful one, we ended by taking a few pictures with them and making plans for us to meet with the whole Team Swagga – or at least more of them. We’ll follow their efforts in becoming an infamous party throwing group, hehe. We look forward to meeting with them again and to see them becoming very successful in the future.

today, what a day it was...

We had our interview with a select few from Team Swagga, it was amusing as well as informing. We must admit we love these dudes already, and we only met three of them! Their names are Austin C., Sam N., & Terrell M. :] It was an awkward interview, but we soon loosened up and it was rather enjoyable. Pictures & a brief overview of what we learned about them will be up shortly, (sometime this week) so stay on the look out. Hopefully, sometime this week or in the very near future we can meet the whole team, there are ELEVEN of them, nothing at all like the two of us dolls. On top of that we will have a fundraiser set up at Perkins Restaurant so 10% of your check goes to our organization :) We have so much on our plates right now, but I know we can do it.

decisions, how easy they seem to be.

So, I have recently decided. More like decided last night. That since I am trying to steer my future career and lifestyle toward that of a fashion editor, I would change the focus of my blog toward that of a fashion editor indeed. Just testing the waters of what life could bring me in a year and a half, once I finally graduate high school. Although you will still see some personal blogs here & there, I might just make a separate blog ( on tumblr perhaps? ) for my personal life. However, you might be able to take a dip into my personal life on occasion. This blog will be full of local fashionistas. Girls & Boys alike. People I see at parties, people I go to school with, even MYSELF, etc. :) Photo shoots, interviews, videos & my opinion and other people's views. I'm excited to get this started and the launch of all of this, will be Nov. 09. Until then, I will still post random blogs here and there. So sit tight, and I'm sure we'll all have fun with this experimental blog.

Yesterday, Kevin Jonas and his liddo gal pal Danielle announced their engagement. Anywho Joseph Adam Jonas is my babyboo anyway so I'm not heartbroken.

May 18, 2009 is the birthday of a person who used to be very close to me heart. She was my sister, my bestfriend, my right hand, honestly my other half. I miss her ODE. Because From 2007 to 2009 I was always with her. Almost every single day, days at the pool, to Dorney Park, or screaming at the television at Camp Rock. Everything I've went through that had significance in my life she has been there to go through it with me, either holding my hand or laughing her ass off, rolling on the floor along side of me. But in the Fall of 2008 things changed, we went to different high schools. We had a significant amount of distance between our houses. We had different friends and interests. We started to chill less and less, and then that was it. Calls stopped flowing, secrets weren't shared, texts didn't come through. Basically our friendship was over. I don't know what to say really. We are cool now, but we aren't close anymore. Shiet happens of course we all know that but she was my best friend and its hard to get over it. Even though I don't stress it anymore, WE CANNOT CRY OVER SPILLED MILK. I was just thinking about this whole thing because it is her 15th birthday today, and she popped into my liddo mind.i still love her ♥ & I'm just wishing her a happy birthday.
